I thought it was because Johnny Speight was a Hammer?

Re: The Alf Garnett Saga
The whole premise was that Garnett was an objectionable racist cunt. And the writers threw in he was West Ham as that's what team they felt objectionable racist cunts supported. And they found a Tottenham fan to play him. There's nothing affectionate about our club in any of it.

I thought he handled his first trip pretty well there.

The shots of THE Boleyn Ground raised the hairs on my back. We haven't had that stadium for decades. Bring on the OS.

The opening shot of the camera panning back from St Pauls to Wapping(?) is quite good.

First film was superb... loved the '66 stuff and Rita's wedding day.... the second film had it's moments but was poorer by comparison... loved the TV series and the In Sickness and Health follow up

Re: The Alf Garnett Saga
Kenny Lynch was a good mate of one of my brothers. Was around Oxsaw Snr Towers a lot when I was a nipper - but only when my father was out. He'd have burned all the furniture, sold the house and moved us had he known "one of them" was sitting at the kitchen table being fed.

Re: The Alf Garnett Saga
The second film was good in part too.

The part where he was at the game, that is.

When he called Kenny Lynch a coon I actually laughed.

I saw the first film at the Odeon. It was good in parts.

Didn't realise a second one had been made.

Re: The Alf Garnett Saga
In case you were getting confused, I was referring specifically to that particular motion picture, and NOT the TV series.

The film didn't even have Tony Booth or Una Stubbs in it.

BOO!!!
